After the confirmation of Simone Inzaghi as Lazio’s Manager for the 2019/20 campaign, the Biancocelesti have now directed their attention back towards the transfer market. Following The Laziali’s original report in March 2019, Claudio Lotito’s side remains in search of a left wing-back and the main target is SPAL’s Mohamed Fares, according to Italian news outlet Il Tempo.

After a splendid season in Ferrara (in which he made 36 appearances and scored three goals), the 23-year-old is greatly appreciated by Sporting Director Igli Tare and Manager Inzaghi. Versatile – being able to play as a left midfielder, defender, or wing-back – Fares is left-footed, something that could prove useful if left starting center-back Stefan Radu is ever sidelined. With various suitors said to be following the 1996 born footballer, however, Lazio are said to be trying to act quickly to strike a deal.

As is stands, Lazio are said to be trying to include youngsters Alessandro Murgia (who has spent the past six months on loan at the club and has agreed to remain with SPAL for another season) and Bruno Jordao in the negotiations to bring the player to Rome. The two midfielders could thus mature at the Stadio Paolo Mazza, while Fares would reinforce the Biancocelesti’s left flank.
