Remo Freuler: Rome derby in race for Atalanta man

Another name that Lazio were linked with last summer has returned to the media headlines today as CittaCeleste report that the Biancocelesti, along with fierce city rivals Roma, are once again interested in Atalanta midfielder Remo Freuler. Lazio wanted to sign the Swiss man last summer but eventually decided to pursue other midfield options in Valon Berisha and Milan Badelj. However, those moves have not really worked out for Inzaghi’s side and, therefore, there is interest being shown in Freuler again.

Speaking to Swiss website Laliberte.com, Freuler’s agent, Ulisse Salvini, said that “Remo wants to take a step forward in his career, and can do so with a transfer or with Atalanta in the Champions League . ‘Atalanta bought him for 1.5 million, but the prices are relative. A player paid 3 million just three years ago could be worth 15 today.”

Therefore, although Freuler is likely to stay and embark on the Champions League adventure with Atalanta, there is still a chance of him moving – with both Lazio and Roma considered amongst the frontrunners if he were to leave Bergamo.
