Alessandro Murgia had a successful loan spell with Ferrara-based SPAL this season; helping the Italian side defy expectations and Murgia proving instrumental in their success. Murgia, who has been called up to the Italy squad for the U21 European Championships which kick off next week, is returning to Lazio but, as per recent reports from the Italian press, will meet with the Lazio management to discuss whether or not his future lies permanently with the club.
Lazio are reportedly prepared to let Murgia return to SPAL; possibly using him as a part-exchange for one of the three players that Lazio have been linked with – Fares, Lazzari and Petagna. Murgia supposedly wants to return to Lazio when he can play a leading role – which he cannot do at this time.
Similarly, forward Simone Palombi, who spent the last season on loan with Serie B side Lecce, helping them get promoted up to Serie A, is set to stay at Liverani’s Lecce side; with the club permanently purchasing the forward yet Lazio given a right to repurchase the player in the future.
