Sardar Azmoun: Lazio return to Zenit striker after Wesley failure

According to what has been reported by CittaCeleste this morning, after Lazio’s failure to sign Club Brugge forward Wesley Moraes, after being pipped to the signing by Premier League side Aston Villa, the Biancocelesti have returned to yet another new name for the attack: Sardar Azmoun.

Azmoun has been linked to Lazio for the past couple of summers and sporting director Igli Tare is clearly a big fan of the Iranian. Azmoun has played for Rubin Kazan in the past two summers but is now a player of Zenit St Petersburg and therefore you would expect that he would sell for more than if Lazio had purchased him a season or two ago.

CittaCeleste report that Tare’s interest in the Iranian is greater than that in Atalanta forward Andrea Petagna and, therefore, Lazio may have already found their alternative to signing Wesley in the attack.
