Jony nears zero-cost Lazio move after Malaga fail to get promoted

The marriage of Jony and Lazio draws ever closer; especially after his parent club, Malaga, failed to win promotion to La Liga. A clause in the Spaniard’s contract with the Segunda Division side meant that he can move on loan to any top division club in any nation on-loan for the following season at his free will. However, because Jony’s contract with the side expires in 2020, any club that signs him on loan this summer will be able to agree a pre-contractual agreement to sign him permanently next year.

The 27-year-old is now said to be moving closer to a switch to Lazio, as per Corriere dello Sport, with the club ready to get the deal over the line. In the coming weeks, Lazio are expected to accelerate for the Spanish winger and hopefully make him the first summer signing of many.
