Lazio-Jony: player expected in Rome early July

According to the latest reports, Jony is in the final stages of becoming a Lazio player. After first finding an agreement with the Spaniard himself, the Biancocelesti have now confirmed the transaction fees with Malaga.

The soon to be 28-year-old winger, who spent the past season on loan with Alaves in La Liga, achieved four goals and 11 assists in 37 appearances in all competitions. However, as his loan comes to a conclusion with Babazorros El Glorioso and his contract set to expire in the summer of 2020 with Malaga, his future looks to be light blue and white. The main reason pertains to the fact that the Spanish club failed to obtain promotion to the top flight of Spanish football and will remain in La Liga 2.

Claudio Lotito and Igli Tare have had Jony the winger sign a pre-contract similar to a loan agreement that will become permanent in the summer of 2020. Therefore, Lazio will give the La Liga 2 side a contingency payment of around €2m to sign the player permanently (rather than exercising the clause in his contract which would allow him to move to Rome on loan with a free transfer being signed upon his contract expiry next summer).

Expected to arrive in Rome in the first week of July, Jony will then undergo the necessary medicals before being acquainted with the Capital and the Formello sports center.
