Atalanta’s Papu Gomez was close to joining Lazio over the past few transfer market windows. A rumour that never became reality, interviewed by Sky Sport the player declared:
“It is true that in the last two years I have been close to Lazio. Close in a manner of speaking. I knew of the interest thanks to my agent, but I have always been very clear. The first year I wanted to play the Europa League with Atalanta; in the second year Lazio still played in the Europa League and maybe I wanted a Champions team; then in the third year, there was a very important offer from Arabia (economically speaking) – I talked about it with my family and luckily I stayed in Bergamo .
