Dusan Basta bids emotional farewell to Lazio

Dusan Basta has bid farewell to Lazio, with his contract expiring and the Serbian leaving the club after five years of dedicated service. Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Basta gave a final interview, concluding his time at the club:

My five years at Lazio have been beautiful. With Pioli, in the first season, we reached third place and the Champions League preliminaries. The last match against Napoli, away from home, was one of the most exciting matches I’ve ever played. Then the party at Formello with the fans was unforgettable! In these five years we have almost always done the Europa League. Too bad we couldn’t get into the Champions League. With the arrival of Simone Inzaghi we have given consistency in the last three years. I also experienced many emotions with him. The most beautiful thing ever? The goal in the derby that we won 3-1.

Lazio was a wonderful period of my career. My family and I fell in love with the city. My son was born in Rome, I can say that now it has become our home!

“In life everything has a beginning and an end: the contract with Lazio has expired, and I want to thank the team, staff, fans and clubs for these wonderful years together

“Now turn the page and head to the next challenge. I am rested and ready for new stimuli. I am training every day and I feel great. I prefer to stay in Italy, of course. I have been here for eleven years, of course I would like to stay.”
