Simone Inzaghi’s men arrived at Formello yesterday to begin their preseason training after medical examinations are Paideia, and among them was Spanish star midfielder Luis Alberto. The Spaniard met Igli Tare yesterday to discuss his future, and so far all signs point to the number 10 remaining with the Biancocelesti for next season. It has been a long summer full of speculation toward his return to Sevilla, with the Spanish club keen to sign him, especially after the arrivals of Monchi and Julen Lopetegui, who both know the player so well. Both Inzaghi and Lazio believe in him and have been keen to keep him in Rome, and now it seems those efforts have paid off. Over the last few days, the player has sent out signals that suggest he’s staying at the club, including a text message to the coach in which he expressed his desire to stay at Lazio.

According to today’s edition of Il Tempo, a three-way meeting between Tare, Luis Alberto and his agent is scheduled for Friday. It will be an important discussion where the three parties talk and decide the future of the Spaniard. Although the player is keen to return to Seville, the city where he grew up, his special relationship with Inzaghi and Lazio may prove more powerful to his decision. Lazio had asked for between €30-40m for the star, and Sevilla’s highest offer to date was only €25m (including bonuses), which is considered too low for Claudio Lotito. More will be known in the next 48 hours, in a crucial stage of Lazio’s transfer window.
