Alberto Moreno has officially signed with La Liga side Villarreal CF. With a contract that expired on 30.06.2019 with Liverpool, many Laziali thought that the defender woud make a switch the the Serie A to join former teammates Lucas Leiva and Luis Alberto. “All doors are open”, were Moreno’s words a few weeks back, with several news outlets stating that Sporting Director Igli Tare had actually made contact with the Spaniard. However, the 27-year-old defender looks as if he opted for a move to his home (Spain). Below, the official statement from the club.
“Villarreal have reached an agreement with Alberto Moreno for him to be a Yellows player for the next five seasons. With just his contract to be signed, the defender from Seville arrives at the Estadio de la Cerámica as a free agent, after completing his contract with Liverpool in June.
The Andalusian defender, who has already passed his medical with Villarreal, will sign his medical first thing on Wednesday and will train, at 9:30am CEST, at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) alongside his new team-mates. After the training session, he will be presented to the press at 12:30pm CEST at the press room at the Training Ground.”
