A rumour has emerged from Florence that Lazio are looking to make a move for Giovanni Simeone at the start of August. According to La Nazione, a daily newspaper close to Fiorentina, Simeone is not considered necessary for the project that the club are working towards next season, and Lazio are interested.
Simeone’s father, Diego Simeone, played at Lazio for 4 years between 1999 and 2003 and has stayed attached to the Biancocelesti, and dreams of his son retracing his footsteps. Negotiations between the two clubs will start at the beginning of August, when the Viola return from their pre-season tour in America. The rumours state that the most likely deal will be a loan with an obligation to buy, in the region of €15m. This would allow Fiorentina to recoup most of the cost spent on the youngster two years ago, and gives Lazio a young, promising player at a favourable price.
