Felipe Caicedo close to contract renewal after speculative summer
After a long and speculative summer about the Ecuadorian’s future, it seems that Felipe Caicedo is close to renewing his contracting with Lazio. The striker has been convinced by Inzaghi’s project and has no intention of leaving the capital. At the end of last season, Caicedo seemed destined to leave the Biancocelesti, with interest from both China and the UAE, but in the end no concrete offers arrived and the interest from Boca Juniors and Leeds didn’t excite him. Instead, Inzaghi re-iterated the strikers fundamental role in Lazio’s squad and worked closely with him this summer.
According to Radiosei, Caicedo and his wife are happy in Rome and are keen to continue their work with Lazio. All that remains now is an agreement between the two parties related to the duration of the contract and the salary figures. His current contract expires in 2020 and his current wages are €1.8m a season. A wage increase and an extension of a few years is likely, and the Biancocelesti will have to work quickly to secure his renewal before the season starts.
