A troubled year between muscle and joint problems for Valon Berisha. This was definitely not how he would have expected his €7.5 million transfer from RB Salzburg to work out. Just 14 total appearances for the Biancocelesti, his last match came in the Serie A clash between Lazio and Empoli in early February; this was before he had to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery in the spring, being unavailable for the final months of the season. He aimed to return back to top form in time for preseason, and although missing nearly all of the retreat in Italy at Auronzo di Cadore – which came as a result of two months of rehabilitation in Salzburg – Berisha is set to return in time for their trip to Marienfeld. This was made evident by his Instagram story, when yesterday morning, he took a flight to Pristina, stating “family for two days after two months of rehab.” Therefore, we will be seeing Berisha soon, hopefully ready to prove his worth and challenge for a starting position in the team.
