Danny Welbeck became a free agent following his contract expiry with Arsenal on July 1st. A future unknown, after spending his entire career to date in England, the 28-year-old may be ready for a foreign experience.

Growing up at the Manchester United youth sides, the player took his chances with the senior team before making a switch to the Gunners in 2014. UEFA Champions and Europa League experience, despite scoring 32 goals in 126 appearances, he failed to live up to expectations. When you consider that Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are currently leading the lines, this just further adds to the reason why the club decided to let him go.

According to The Sun, a possible destination lies in Italy with Lazio. The Biancocelesti are looking to reinforce to their attack and seeing that Felipe Caicedo’s time at the club is still being questioned, the English international could look to test his luck in Rome. However, what worries the club the most is the player’s fragility and salary: last season, he managed to only appear in eight games due to injury and he is requesting £100,000 per week. For now, this transfer to Lazio seems like nothing more than a mere possibility, especially considering how stingy President Claudio Lotito is with his money.
