Riza Durmisi: Fenerbahce enter race for Danish international

Since the finale of the 2018/19 campaign, Laziali have been eager to see what Lazio would do in the summer transfer market. Although acquisitions were a necessity to improve, sales also had to be completed if they were to see Simone Inzaghi take this club to new heights. One of these players who has been rumored to be on his way out of Rome is Riza Durmisi. The Danish international left-back did not have the greatest first year with the Biancocelesti and fans were quick to jump to conclusions on what would happen come summer. Now, this speculation has turned into reality.

The 25-year-old was not called to take part in preseason training with the rest of the squad. In addition, Lazio have acquired Jony from Malaga over the summer and have had Jordan Lukaku return back to full health. When you throw the likes of Senad Lulic, Bobby Adekanye, and Patric into the mix as well, one can clearly see that the left flank has all the depth it needs without the 25-year-old. As a result, despite Durmisi stating he has no intention of leaving, this is the likely outcome.

Besiktas were said to be interested, leading the race to sign the left-back; Lazio were said to be requesting €5 million. However, after recently acquiring Tyler Boyd and Pedro Rebocho, it seems as if a deal for the former Real Betis man is unlikely. Therefore, as it stands, Riza’s old clubs – Brøndby IF and Real Betis – are interested in bringing the player back, in addition to Marseille. However, as emphasized by today’s edition of Il Tempo, Fenerbahce has entered the race to challenge the other parties for the player’s signature.

In any situation, there is time until September 2nd to find a solution that pleases all parties involved.
