Lazio looking to add a striker before September 2nd

Quiet in the market as of late, Lazio could look to give Simone Inzaghi one last gift before September 2nd; this would be a reinforcement to the attacking department.

Although somewhat secure with Ciro Immobile and Felipe Caicedo, the club are looking to add additional experience to the team to prepare for the long and difficult 2019/20 campaign that lies ahead. Bobby Adekanye and Andre Anderson, although impressing, are young and lack first team football in the Serie A. Therefore, taking a chance on them to provide the firepower if one of the starters goes down injured seems to be quite a risk to management.

While the likes of Fernando Llorente, Andrea Petagna, Bas Dost would be massive signings, their wages and price-tags are an issue in bringing them to Rome. However, Inzaghi has stated over and over again that he would not be opposed to acquiring another attacker who has physical qualities in both the air and on the ball, similar to Caicedo. This is why Igli Tare could be attempting to make a move behind the scenes.

According to Radiosei, Tanzania captain and KRC Genk forward Mbwana Samatta is still an option, in addition to FC Twente’s Jari Oosterwijk. The 26-year-old scored 20 goals in 28 outings last season while the 24-year-old – who has a contract expiring in 2020 – scored 10 goals in 35 appearances on loan with NAC Breda last season. Everything is still to be defined, but Lazio are trying to get something done before the start of the 2019/20 Serie A.
