This morning, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio held a meeting at the Formello Training Grounds regarding the contract renewal and extension of Joaquín Correa. This included the Argentina international himself, his agent Alessandro Lucci, and Biancocelesti Sporting Director Igli Tare. The now 25-year-old arrived last summer from Sevilla, signing a five-year deal until June 30th, 2023. However, being one of the breakout stars in the Serie A last year, he attracted interest from several top clubs this summer. Milan and Tottenham are said to have put offers on the table reaching as much as €55 million, but Cluadio Lotito rejected the proposals. As a result, Lazio are working on inserting a release clause into the player’s new contract. This will be set at a high price around €70-€80 million (as reported by The Laziali back at the beginning of August) to fend off any low-ball offers and acquire a just cash sum if he is to leave.
