Luis Alberto: “It’s Difficult to Remove Certain Labels…”

One goal and six assists from eight matches so far this 2019/20 campaign. Luis Alberto has been back to his best for Lazio. Called up to the Spain National Team by Robert Moreno – for the upcoming UEFA EURO 2020 Qualifiers against Norway and Sweden – the 27-year-old spoke to Canal Sur Radio about Sevilla and Lazio.

“A return to Sevilla? I have said it in the past and I will continue to keep my word: I will never say no to what was my home. However, now I’m at Lazio. I’m happy and I have a contract; it is the club that gave me the opportunity to get where I am today and I am very grateful. But maybe next year, Lazio may say tell me that I have to leave. Sometimes it doesn’t depend on me.”

“My performances? It hasn’t been this way for a long time. To make this leap forward I had to improve, not so much in the offensive aspect, but in the defensive aspect. And then I also had to improve my mentality. Today, it cannot be said that I am inconsistent. But when labels get stuck to you, it’s hard to get rid of them. I’m certainly not a famous footballer to the general public but I would appreciate that anyone who wants to follow me should do so by watching the Italian championship.”
