The 28-year-old Kenyan – whose contract expires in 2021 – has rarely been used by Jose Mourinho. He has just four appearances in all competitions this season, and as a result, is set to move on for first team playing time.
However, this transfer will not be easy to complete, given the short period of time remaining in the January Transfer Window and the intense competition around the player – Aston Villa (Premier League), Rennes (France), and Fiorentina are also said to be interested in securing the player’s services.
Wanyama has spent the last three and a half years with the Spurs, since transferring from Southampton in the summer of 2016. Primarily deployed as a central midfielder, he can also play as a central defender.
