Lazio Ready to Move for Real Madrid’s Nacho

Real Madrid defender Nacho has a contract expiring with the La Liga giants this summer; the Spaniard is looking set to depart the club on a free transfer as he is no longer in the plans of the club’s management. A number of clubs are said to be chasing the Madrid defender, with Valencia and Villarreal serving as domestic prospects for the 30-year-old center-back.

Reports from the Spanish media – via La Lazio Siamo Noi – suggest that Lazio Sporting Director Igli Tare is interested in signing the defender on a free, whilst Roma and Napoli are also considered to be in the running.

At age 30, Nacho would not serve as a long-term star for Lazio but would offer some experience in the short-term, from a player who is used to playing at the top level. With any luck, he would be able to impart knowledge on some of the Biancocelesti’s younger defenders such as Luiz Felipe.

Roma and Napoli, however, are considered to be ahead of Lazio in the running for the Spaniard’s signature. Gianluca Petrachi and Cristiano Giuntoli, the sporting directors of Roma and Napoli respectively, are said to have already made contact and are looking to strengthen their defenses.
