Bastos underwent medical tests yesterday at the Paideia Clinic, following a muscle problem sustained in morning training.
The Angolan defender has not been called up for the match against Parma today as a result, which will result in Patric taking his position in the starting eleven. Not selected to play against Hellas Verona, Bastos was set to complete a backline trio alongside Francesco Acerbi and Luiz Felipe for the trip to the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
The results of the medical tests are yet to be revealed; the extent of the injury and the timeline for how long he will be sidelined are also yet to be known.
Simone Inzaghi and management will hope that the injury sustained is not severe – this season the defender has been very reliable when called upon.
