Lazio Thinking of Alessandro Micai for the Future

Silvio Proto joined Lazio on a free transfer in the summer of 2018. Assigned the role of a back-up goalkeeper for starter Thomas Strakosha, he has brought an abundance of experience and wisdom to Rome; he has played with several clubs over his career, in many different leagues, and has also played in the UEFA Champions League with Anderlecht and Olympiakos. This is why, despite only making nine appearances in two years, he will remain with the Biancocelesti for at least another year and a half; his contract with Lazio expires in the summer of 2021.

Although the goalkeeping situation seems secure for the time being, the club is said to be preparing for the future. As a result, according to Radiosei, they have turned their heads towards Salerntiana’s Alessandro Micai. Born in 1993, he joined the Salerno-based club in 2018 on a free transfer, following Bari’s bankruptcy. In two years, he has made 70 appearances in all competitions, conceding 99 goals and securing 15 clean sheets. This potential transfer is a result of the close relationship between Salernitana and Lazio; when the time comes for the need of another goalkeeper, he will likely be the number one candidate.
