Joaquin Correa: New Information Regarding Argentine’s Release Clause

According to Italian Lazio fan radio station Radiosei, new information has been leaked regarding Joaquin Correa’s release clause at Lazio.

In August, both the Argentine and the club officially agreed to a contract extension; he signed a long-term deal until 2024 where he would be making €2.2 million + bonuses per year. This meant that only Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (€3 million + bonuses) would be making more than him at the club. Signed in the presence of his agent, Alessandro Lucci, he also had an €80 million release clause included in his contract. However, what was not mentioned was the timeline for this release cluase to take effect, which has now been defined.

Correa’s release clause has a deadline, meaning that for any club to pay the it, they would have to do so before July 31st. This was a date chosen to allow Lazio to have the necessary time to find a replacement; after the deadline, no one will be able to take Tucu, even if they pay the amount.

This past summer, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Napoli were among the interested parties in Correa.
