Lazio to Keep Denis Vavro in Rome for 2020/21 Season

According to Italian Lazio fan radio station Radiosei, despite his rather unconvincing performances in his first year in Itay, Lazio will keep Denis Vavro in Rome for the 2020/21 season.

Club Sporting Igli Tare and President Claudio Lotito are already preparing for the next season and have identified that the defensive department – which includes the Slovakian defender – is something that may have to be improved upon, especially if UEFA Champions League football is to be played.

Purchased last summer for a fee of €12 million, this is the most the club have spent on a central defender in Lotito’s era. However, since his arrival, he has made played just 711 minutes; 517 of which have been in the UEFA Europa League and only 194 of which have been in Serie A.

Manager Simone Inzaghi definitely expected more from the new signing, but as often happens in Formello, their first year usually counts as a transition. Therefore, the club will repeat what has been done before with various others – such as Senad Lulic, Luiz Felipe, Luis Alberto, and Felipe Caicedo – and Vavro will be given another year to prove himself.
