Bastos: Lazio Departure Likely at Contract Expiry

According to Italian-based Lazio fan radio station Radiosei, Bastos Jacinto Quissanga – simply known as Bastos – is set to leave Lazio at his contract expiry.

The Angolan defender has been with Lazio for four years since he arrived from Rostov in the summer of 2016. Igli Tare paid the Russian club €5 million to secure his signature and offered him a five-year contract, which expires in the summer of 2021.

Failing to fully convince Simone Inzaghi of his talent, a contract renewal for the 29-year-old seems very far away, as he is unhappy with his lack of first-team playing time in Rome. And as a result, Bastos has entrusted his career with his agent Federico Pastorello, who will try to sell him this upcoming summer (or whenever the market reopens).

Although the player has not performed poorly, the level of competition is the main reason for his inconsistent minutes on the field. Patric and Luiz Felipe climbed over him in the hierarchy; the Spaniard will certainly remain, as will Stefan Radu and Francesco Acerbi, meaning only a substitute – or cup spot – is available to him. Expecting to play more, this is why his adventure with the Biancocelesti has likely come to an end prematurely.
