Sofian Kiyine: “I’m Ready to Play in Serie A With Lazio”

Acquired by Lazio from Chievo Verona in the summer of 2019, Sofian Kiyine has spent the past season on loan with Salernitana in the Serie B. His second spell in Salerno (his first time was when he was sent on loan from Chievo for the 2017/18 season), he recently spoke with Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato Web about his future.

“Lazio? I hope to meet Simone Inzaghi, but in the meantime, I will give my best for Salernitana.”

“My goal is to play for Lazio. I feel ready for Serie A; I know Lazio have very strong players, but if I was ever called into action, I would give my best.”

“Lazio has proven to be one of the best teams in the Serie A this season; we are doing well too. I hope both leagues will resume again soon. However, it seems strange to me that the teams in a low position in both tables are saying that they do not want to resume play… If it is allowed, we will have to restart again; there are ten games left, and we want to play them all giving our very best.”

Kiyine has scored nine goals and provided one assist in 28 appearances this season. He has started 26 of the aforementioned 28 matches and is trusted dearly by manager Gian Piero Ventura; despite being a midfielder, he is the second leading goalscorer for the Granata and is assigned to penalty duty, by which he has a 100% conversion rate (seven goals from the spot from seven total attempts).
