Wallace: Lazio Ready to Sell Brazilian Defender

According to Lazio fan radio station Radiosei, Wallace’s time with the Biancocelesti looks likely to come to a conclusion this summer.

Sent on loan – with an option to buy – to Portuguese Liga NOS side SC Braga for the 2019/20 season, the 25-year-old has failed to convince the Os Arcebispos management with his inconsistent performance. Although he has made 16 appearances in all competitions, only eight matches have been from league play. As a result, the club will not exploit the option to redeem him at the end of this season and he will return to Rome.

Managed by super-agent Jorge Mendes, the central defender was sent to Portugal – and his former club in SC Braga – to hopefully regain his form. However, this was unsuccessful, and with a contract expiring in the summer of 2021, Igli Tare and Claudio Lotito have already made up their mind; they are ready to cut their losses and sell the player this upcoming summer transfer window to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer the season afterward.

Wallace is currently valued at approximately €8 million. As Mendes received a percentage of his sale value, he will be in accordance with Lazio in regard to selling him this summer. This is so he acquires some sort of benefit in return for his services, instead of a marginal amount in 2021, in the case that the player’s contract was to expire and he was to leave on a free transfer.

Wallace joined Lazio in the summer of 2016 from SC Braga. He has made 67 appearances for the club, scored two goals, and picked up 12 yellow cards since then (over a three-year period).
