Speaking to Belgian news outlet Sudpresse, Lazio’s back-up goalkeeper Silvio Proto discussed the suspension of the Serie A and the effect it is had on him and his future.
“One thing is sure, if Serie A does not resume soon, this will be the end of my career. At my age, I can’t imagine returning to a sufficient level after stopping for four months. It’s not a problem with my physical condition, it’s just that I have never stopped training or playing football for more than six weeks. I have lost an enormous amount of strength in my legs.”
Proto joined the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2018 on a three-year deal following his contract expiry with Olympiacos. He is turning 37 in May 2020; he has played in just nine matches for the Serie A side since his arrival.
