Ciro Immobile: “I Miss Doing What I Love”

If anyone should be eager to return to the field, it is Lazio striker Ciro Immobile. The Italian leads the list of top scorers in Serie A this season and with Lazio just behind Juventus in the league table, the Italian is itching to give Laziali everywhere a reason to believe in the near-impossible.

Immobile spoke with the official radio station of S.S. Lazioin which he discussed missing football, the actions of the Italian government, and how he’s been keeping entertained in lockdown with some popular Netflix shows.

“I don’t want to go back because we are second in the standings, but because I miss doing what I love. I don’t care about being first in the scoring ranking, I just really miss being on the field…”

“I don’t want to go against anyone but I’m asking for explanations as an Italian citizen. I do a certain job and am waiting to hear about what we have to do. I don’t care if I have to point the finger at someone. We are ready to play even in the heat and we can also be a distraction for people who will not be able to go on vacation.”

“All the players of the other teams agree and want to return to the pitch too. How is it possible that I am allowed to go running in the parks of Rome – like Villa Borghese – but not in Formello where there are six fields and I can train alone in one half of the field?”

Then, when asked about how he and his family have been keeping entertained in quarantine, the Italian responded:

“We cook, we train, we watch TV series. We saw La Casa di Carta [Money Heist] in one day; we are now we are watching The Witcher. Jessica didn’t know about the Crime Novel series, now I’m trying to make her watch them.”
