Dominik Szoboszlai: “Serie A Is an Interesting League But…”

One name that has been linked with Lazio in the past year, as a potential reinforcement for the midfield, is RB Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai. The Hungarian midfielder is considered to be one of the most talented young prospects in Europe and has attracted a lot of interest from top clubs, including Juventus, Milan and Manchester United. Speaking on his future, with quotes via CittaCeleste, Szoboszlai said:

“It is now too early to talk about the transfer market. They say Milan are interested in signing me. A passage to the club could be my destiny; who knows. But one thing is certain, I will choose based on what is best for my career. Serie A is an interesting league. However, the Premier League and the Bundesliga are too. There are several teams ready to sign me. I will choose carefully.”

Therefore, whilst not entirely closing the door on a move to Italy, Szoboszlai appears to prefer a move to Milan within Serie A and is also considering a move to England or Germany. A major obstacle in Lazio’s pursuit has always been the price-tag, with Salzburg valuing the Hungarian at over €30 million.

Last summer, it was suggested that Szoboszlai was Lazio’s ideal replacement for if Sergej Milinkovic-Savic left the club and this could well be the case again this summer. Although it appears that the Serbian is more likely to remain with the Biancocelesti once again if Claudio Lotito receives an astronomical bid he may find it hard to turn it down, in which case Lazio may well put an offer on the table for Szoboszlai.

A talented midfielder, Szoboszlai is certainly one-to-watch wherever he moves, offering a creative spark from midfield and a high work-rate, he is similar to Milinkovic-Savic yet lacks experience in a top league that the Serbian boasts.
