According to Italian sports outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Lazio are said to be interested in signing Malang Sarr this summer.
The 21-year-old’s contract with OGC Nice expires on 30.06.2020, and as the club has been unable to reach an agreement with the player and/or his agent about an extension, his time with Les Aigles seems to be approaching its end. For this reason, there is sure to be an abundance of competition for the French starlet and an important decision to be made.
A France U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 international, it is no doubt that Sarr has immense talent. A left-footed defender capable of playing as a center back or left-back, he made his debut with Nice at the age of 17 years 06 months 22 days under Manager Lucien Favre in 2016. Since then, he has cemented his position as a starter in the heart of the club’s backline; he has made 119 total appearances for the club in all competitions.
As it stands, several clubs have already expressed their desire to acquire Sarr. In addition to Lazio, this list of clubs includes Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt and Serie A side Napoli. While the German side seems to be pushing the most to sign the player, Sarr signing with a club in Italy seems the most likely destination. This is a result of the player’s new agent; he recently signed with Federico Pastorello of P&P SPORT MANAGEMENT S.A.M.
It is important to note that Lazio have a history – and a strong working relationship – with Pastorello. However, due to Sarr’s availability, the player’s salary will be a likely issue in convincing him to come to Rome.
