According to Italian news outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi, Lazio are said to have made contact with the agents of Hellas Verona starlet Marash Kumbulla.
Despite being fully aware of the difficulties involved in signing the 20-year-old (competition, salary, transfer fee), Igli Tare is not yet ready to give up, which is why contact was made to discover if there truly is a possibility of the Albanian landing in the Capital ahead of next season.
As it stands, in addition to Lazio, Serie A clubs Inter and Napoli and Premier League sides Chelsea and Tottenham are following the defender.
While the Partenopei pressed hard for the player in January of 2020 (but were ultimately unsuccessful in their attempts to bring him to the Stadio San Paolo), the Nerazzurri are said to be the Biancocelesti’s toughest competition; as Andrea Ranocchia and Diego Godin both look certain to leave the club this summer, Giuseppe Marotta needs to find replacements.
Furthermore, this is due to the fact that they are ready to meet the transfer fee Hellas Verona are asking for (at least €20 million + bonuses) and because they are ready to offer Kumbulla a five-year deal worth €2 million per season; something that Lazio may find difficult to match. However, there are other factors other than money that must be taken into consideration.
As further reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi, if Lazio President Claudio Lotito is able to come to an agreement with Hellas Verona President Maurizio Setti over the transfer fee, Kumbulla has hinted that he would immediately say yes to the move. This is a result of the ability he would have to not only play in the UEFA Champions League, but also grow gradually at one of the top clubs in Italy.
Therefore, while Inter remains as the party in the lead for the player’s signature, it must be noted that Lazio have a very good chance at signing Kumbulla this summer.
