Official: 2020 Summer Transfer Window Dates Announced

As officially announced by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) on May 29, 2020, Serie A is set to resume on June 20, 2020, and is expected to come to a conclusion by August 2, 2020. This was following a conference call between the league, the players’ association and the FIGC.

Furthermore, according to Sky Sport, the 2020 Summer Transfer Window was also discussed at this meeting. A solution was found by which it will open on September 1, 2020, and close on October 5, 2020, therefore meaning that the period to purchase and sell players will be 35 days. In addition, it will overlap with the beginning of the Serie A 2020/21 season.

These dates for the transfer window are similar to what Sky Sport had proposed on May 20, 2020 – following the Federal Council meeting between the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and several Italian football stakeholders on – by which it would open on September 1, 2020, and close on October 2, 2020.
