Aaron Hickey: Lazio Pursuing Hearts Defender

According to Rome based newspaper Il Messaggero, Lazio have made a €100 thousand offer for Heart of Midlothian FC defender Aaron Hickey.

The 18-year-old, who spent his youth at the Edinburgh based club (but also had a brief stint at Celtic for the 2017/18 season) was promoted to the first team in the 2018/19 season. While only making four appearances, he impressed enough to secure a starting position for this 2019/20 season; he played in 30 matches in all competitions before the Scottish Premiership season came to a premature end to due COVID-19.

As a result of the season being brought to a halt – with eight matches still left to play – the Tynecastle side was relegated to the Scottish Championship; something that has left Hickey’s future in the balance.

With a contract only valid until the summer of 2021, the Scottish youngster has become a top target for several clubs across Europe. This includes the likes of Milan, Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich, in addition to the Biancocelesti.

This is why Sporting Director Igli Tare is said to have placed an offer for Hickey, with the goal of securing his signature ahead of the other aforementioned parties.
