According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Lazio is eyeing 23-year old Denis Zakaria as a replacement for 33-year-old Lucas Leiva.
The Switzerland international, who currently plays for Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach, has a contract expiring in the summer of 2022. However, since there is also interest from Manchester United, Dortmund, Liverpool, and Real Madrid in addition to the Biancocelesti, a departure this summer seems very likely.
Zakaria has played 2667 minutes out of a possible 2790 minutes this 2019/20 season, scoring two goals and providing two assists as a defensive midfielder.
Due to his high market value, a move to Rome and Lazio may only be possible with the departure of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
