Giuseppe Cannella, the Agent of Gabriel Charpentier, spoke to Reggina TV about the player’s future.
Gabriel has managed to recover very well from his injury; he is ready to play. He is very young, has a good physical structure, and has great tactical intelligence (especially when attacking). Although he is comfortable at Avellino, he must start to gain experience at a higher level, and I won’t hide that there is interest from two Serie A teams for him. These two clubs are Genoa and Lazio, who are ready to acquire him and loan him to the Serie B with the likes of Reggina or Salernitana.
Lazio have reportedly been interested in signing the Spartaks Jurmala owned striker, who is currently on loan with Serie C side Unione Sportiva Avellino 1912, since mid-June 2020.
Born in 1999, the 21-year-old spent his youth career playing for the likes of French sides FC Issy-les-Moulineaux and FC Nantes before he was acquired by the Latvian club in March of 2019.
Scoring five goals and providing two assists in 20 appearances in all competitions, Charpentier was then sent on loan to Serie C side Avellino ahead of the 2019/20 season. He had done decently well (scoring six goals in 17 appearances in all competitions) before rupturing his cruciate ligament in December 2019; he even caught the attention of Napoli and Roma.
It is reported that Lazio’s goal would be to sign Charpentier outright and send him directly to the Serie B with Salernitana to keep a close eye on him and monitor his growth. The Granata are the second club Biancocelesti President Claudio Lotito has ownership in.
