Prediction

This match takes place after Lazio lost 2-1 in Puglia against Lecce. It was a disappointing result for the Biancocelesti who have lost three of their last five games. Felipe Caicedo opened the scoring for Lazio as the Biancocelesti capitalized on an error from the goalkeeper, Gabriel. However, it was not enough as two straight goals were conceded by the Aquile. Khouma Babacar and Fabio Lucioni each scored to help Lecce win in a hard-fought effort. Fabio Liverani came with a game plan and made it difficult for Lazio to score in the final third.  Lazio’s struggles continue and their chances of winning the Scudetto are slowly evaporating as injuries have been a persistent issue for Inzaghi. The Biancocelesti were dealt with more bad news before the match as Joaquin Correa is set to miss a few weeks with an injury. Additionally, Patric will be suspended for the next four games for biting Giulio Donati’s arm late into stoppage time. The task of competing with Juventus for the Scudetto has now become more daunting for Inzaghi.

As for the Neroverdi, they started their season winning two of their first three matches. Recently, they have shown consistency and are playing at a high level. Currently, this has been some of their best football this season. In their past six matches since the restart of the Serie A campaign, they have lost once while going unbeaten in their past five matches. In their recent match against Bologna, Domenico Berardi and Lukas Haraslin each scored for Sassuolo as they put forth an overwhelming performance. Bologna struggled to find any rhythm, although they scored late into injury time. It was too little too late for Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side to get back into the match.

Lazio is seven points behind Juventus (who are in first place) while Sassuolo is six points behind AC Milan for the seventh spot in the standings.

Prediction: Lazio 2-1 Sassuolo
