According to Romanian sports outlet Sport.ro, Lazio have entered the race to sign highly-rated CS Universitatea Craiova midfielder Alexandru Cicâldău.
Currently 23 years of age, the Romanian started his career playing for Gheorghe Hagi Football Academy before moving to FC Viitorul Constanța in the summer of 2014.
He spent four years at the club based in Ovidiu, making a total of 50 appearances for the first team, before being acquired by Craiova in the summer of 2018 for just €750 thousand. Since then, Cicâldău has scored 20 goals and provided 17 assists in 81 matches; he even made his debut for the Romania national team and has added an additional five caps to his name.
As a result of these bright performances, the Romanian has attracted interest from clubs all over the world; specifically from Italy. In addition to the Biancocelesti, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Bologna, Sampdoria, Sassuolo, Torino, Benevento, and Monza are said to have contacted the club to enquire about his availability.
It is said that Craiova values Cicâldău at €10 million and, therefore, a bidding war is likely to ensure for the 23-year-old this summer; especially as he has a contract that expires in the summer of 2022.
