Prediction

This match takes place after Lazio lost 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. It was a hard-fought effort but the Biancocelesti fell short aside from this match being one of their stronger performances in recent times. Simone Inzaghi’s side is in poor form; they are winless in their last five matches. Ciro Immobile continues to lead the way up front, scoring his 30th goal this season which puts him in a tie for first place with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Italian continues to impress for Lazio, as he’s scored three goals in three of their last six matches. The striker is starting to show good form and will look to continue his pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain’s Serie A record of 36 goals.

In Cagliari’s recent match against Sassuolo, Francesco Caputo opened the scoring for the Neroverdi in the first half. Although leading in the match, Gli Isolani scored in the second half to tie the game. João Pedro scored his eighteenth goal to help Cagliari secure a point after a disappointing match against Sampdoria. The club will look to build off their recent performance as Lazio have struggled in recent times and are winless in their last five matches. Gli Isolani started their Serie A season winning four of their first six matches. Additionally, Cagliari went undefeated in fourteen straight matches but since their streak ended to Lazio, they have struggled to regain their form. They sit ten points above Lecce and have secured a spot for next season in Serie A. Cagliari are winless in their past six matches, their last victory against Lazio dates back to May 2013, when they won 1-0.

In all, both sides are strong and have been performing above expectations this season. At this stage of the season, Lazio will look to solidify their spot into Champions League for next season. This being said, Inzaghi’s side will look to overcome injuries and follow up from their strong performance versus Juventus. While Cagliari will aim to delay Lazio’s return to Champions League.

Prediction: Lazio 2-0 Cagliari
