In Matchday 35 of the 2019/20 Serie A, Lazio defeated Cagliari 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.
Despite the Biancocelesti having the better chances, five more corners, and 67% ball possession, after the first 45 minutes of play, the Rossoblu led 1-0 thanks to a Giovanni Simeone goal that came right at the end of the half.
The play started when Charalampos Lykogiannis hit an attempted long ball forward to João Pedro. Although it was intercepted by Lazio’s Luiz Felipe, Simeone brought down (and controlled) the bouncing ball, before laying it off to Artur Ioniță.
After some short passes in and around the Lazio 18-yard box, and some poor defending from Simone Inzaghi’s men, the ball came back to the Romanian who laid it off to the Argentine; his shot from just outside the 18-yard box deflected off Luiz Felipe and went into the bottom left corner, beating Thomas Strakosha.
