Ciro Immobile’s Pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain’s Record

Lazio’s 2019/20 Serie A season will come to an end on August 1, 2020, with their final match being played away at the Stadio San Paolo against Napoli. While the Biancocelesti will be looking for three points to climb the table, Italian striker Ciro Immobile – who has 35 goals so far this season – will be looking to break Gonzalo Higuain’s record of 36 goals in one Serie A season.

Ciro is currently equal with the record Milan’s Gunnar Nordahl set in the 1950s. However, with just one more goal, he will level with Higuain; with two more goals, he will break the record and what better way to do it than in his town of birth? Furthermore, since Higuain is no longer a popular figure in Naples (due to his move to rivals Juventus), perhaps Partenopei fans might even be in favour of Immobile breaking the record…
