Mohamed Fares: Lazio Enquire About Spal Wing-Back

According to Italian Football Reporter Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, both Lazio and Fiorentina have enquired about the possibility of signing Spal wing-back Mohamed FaresDespite being heavily linked to Torino (according to reports in June 2020), in light of a likely managerial change (whereby Marco Giampaolo looks set to be the new Manager of the Granata), the club has dropped their interest in the 24-year-old Algeria international. As a result, the Biancocelesti and the Viola are in pole position to sign the wing-back.

This is not the first, nor the second time that Lazio have been linked to Fares. The Biancocelesti have been following the Algerian international since March 2019 when he was owned by Hellas Verona (but on loan with Spal for the 2018/19 season). However, despite Lazio showing interest once again for the wing-back in June 2019, Spal took up their option to buy on the Hellas Verona loanee in July 2019 (€2.7 million, three-year deal).

Although there has continued to be interest for the player since then, Spal Sporting Director Davide Vagnati has continuously stated that Fares is ‘unsellable’. However, as Spal have been relegated to Serie B for the 2020/21 season, this summer will definitely be the season that he moves on from Ferrara.
