According to Radiosei, Lazio President Claudio Lotito is prepared to offer Ciro Immobile a new contract which will see him become the top earner at the club by quite some margin and remain in Rome for many years to come.
The striker’s last contract extension came in 2018 when he signed a new deal with the Biancocelesti until 2023 worth €3.5 million + bonuses per season. While 2023 is three years away, Lotito does not want to take any chances.
Due to the Italian’s terrific 2019/2020 campaign – by which he won the European Golden Boot and Capocannoniere award – Immobile has attracted interest from several clubs around the world.
While a few teams from Asia have been in contact in the past, more recently, interest has come from the Premier League, with the likes of Newcastle, Manchester United, and Everton enquiring about the striker. This is why conversations between both parties for another contract are occurring.
Despite the President valuating Immobile between €80 and €100 million, he ultimately wants to keep the player at Lazio until he decides to retire. As a result, he is said to be preparing a salary of at least €5 million per season to convince the 30-year-old to sign this new contract, while simultaneously driving away any interested parties.
