Marcos Acuña: Lazio and Roma Interested in Sporting CP Player

According to Tutto Mercato Web, both Lazio and Roma are interested in Sporting Clube de Portugal’s versatile player Marcos Acuña, who is capable of playing as a left-back, left midfielder, left wing-back, or left-winger. While the Giallorossi are more inclined to secure the 28-year-old (as Paulo Fonseca wants to have an alternative for Leonardo Spinazzola), the Biancocelesti will only pursue the Argentine in case they fail to sign Spal’s Mohamed Fares (as the Algerian is Simone Inzaghi’s first choice).

Acuña joined the Portuguese Primeira Liga side from Argentine Liga Profesional de Fútbol club Racing Club de Avellaneda for €9.5 million in 2017. Following a successful first season in Lisbon, he received (and signed) a contract extension with Sporting until 2023.

Therefore, with three years remaining in his contract, unless a club pays the fee requested by the Portuguese team, it is unlikely that he will leave this summer; interested parties will only be able to negotiate to a certain extent.

In the 2019/20 season, Acuña made 36 appearances in all competitions; 22 of which as a left-back, eight as a left midfielder, three as a center-back, two as a left-winger, and one as a central midfielder.
