According to Sport Mediaset, Lazio Physiotherapist Alex Maggi has resigned from the Biancocelesti. This decision comes less than two weeks since the incident that occurred at the end of Napoli-Lazio on August 1, 2020.
In Matchday 38 of the 2019/20 Serie A, the Biancocelesti were defeated 3-1 by the Partenopei. After the final whistle, the video footage focused on a heated exchange between what looked like someone from Lazio and Napoli Manager Gennaro Gattuso; the individual from the Biancocelesti was confirmed to be Maggi, who had insulted Gattuso by calling him a ‘Terrone’. Terrone is an insulting term used for people that are from Southern Italy, as reported by Football Italia. Since then, Maggi has apologized, however, he has left the club to “reconnect with his family.”
