According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Lazio are interested in the possibility of signing 24-year-old Serbian attacker Andrija Zivkovic, who is currently a free agent after his contract was rescinded by mutual consent (on August 26, 2020) with Portuguese Primeira Liga side Benfica.
Zivkovic joined As Águias from FK Partizan on a free transfer in 2016. Throughout his four-year spell in Portugal, the attacker – who can play as a right-winger, as a left-winger, or as an attacking midfielder – made 88 appearances in all competitions (Liga NOS, Allianz Cup, Taça de Portugal Placard, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League), scoring four goals and providing 24 assists. However, it is important to note that Zivkovic made just four appearances this past 2019/20 season (a total of 124 minutes); fitness issues, in addition to an arm injury, kept him sidelined.
Approaching the end of the 2019/20 season, despite having a few years left on his contract, the player and club were at work to resolve his contract. This occurred due to two factors; the first being the fact that he was no longer part of Manager Jorge Jesus’ plans, and secondly, the desire to move on after the incident which saw him get glass in his eye (after fans threw stones at the team bus after Benfica were held to a 0-0 draw against Tondela).
