According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Torino have expressed interest in Lazio and Croatia international Milan Badelj. This news comes to light due to the Granata’s search for a central defensive midfielder; while Milan’s Lucas Biglia or Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira are reported to be (newly appointed Manager) Marco Giampaolo’s primary targets, due to the Argentine’s age and the Uruguayan’s price tag, the 31-year-old may be the better solution for the club (as he would be a low-cost alternative who has plenty years of experience playing in Italy and Serie A).
Despite signing with the Biancocelesti on a free transfer just two years ago (in 2018), life in Rome has not gone as planned for Badelj. After just one season with the club (where he made 26 appearances between the UEFA Europa League and Serie A), due to a lack of first-team playing time in addition to subpar performances, he was loaned (with an option to buy set at €4 million) to Fiorentina for the 2019/20 season. However, as the Viola refused to take up the option to sign him permanently at the end of the season, the Croatian ultimately returned to Lazio.
As it stands, both the Biancocelesti and the player’s Agent are looking for a solution that would see him leave Rome for good; it seems only a matter of time before he selects his new destination.
