According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Italian footballer Alessandro Matri (who recently announced his retirement) is set to take on an executive role as a member of Lazio’s Management Staff, primarily assisting Sporting Director Igli Tare. In recent weeks, he looked set to join Andrea Pirlo’s coaching staff at Juventus; however, he preferred the role that the Biancocelesti offered him. An agreement has already been found, and in the coming days, and official statement should be made by the club to announce his arrival.
Matri, who is now 36-years-old, had a long playing career (which was spent at numerous clubs all around Italy). Domestically, he played in Serie C, Serie B, and Serie A (in addition to the Coppa Italia, and the Supercoppa Italiana); on an international level, he played in both the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Champions League. Not only is he a respected individual, but he is also an intelligent person with regards to the football world, who will look to assist Lazio in scouting players and carrying out negotiations on Tare’s behalf.
