After testing positive for COVID-19 on September 20, 2020, Lazio striker Vedat Muriqi was forced to remain in Istanbul (instead of returning to Rome to train with the Biancocelesti) until he tested negative with the virus.
As reported by Kosovan Sports Journalist Arlind Sadiku, this has now occurred after the 26-year-old took two tests between September 27, 2020, and September 28, 2020; both of which confirmed he no longer had COVID. As a result, Muriqi is now free to return to Italy to meet up with Simone Inzaghi and the rest of the team.
Therefore, after a month without training, he will arrive at the Formello Sports Centre (within 48 hours) to finally take part in his first training session with his new club. However, it is important to note that the player is still dealing with a muscle strain; he will likely be unavailable for the matches against Atalanta and Inter, but Inzaghi hopes to have him for the match against Sampdoria scheduled for October 17, 2020.
Lazio signed Muriqi from Turkish Süper Lig side Fenerbahçe for a fee of €17.5 million + €1.5 million in bonuses, in addition to 5% of his future sale price.
Last season, he scored 17 goals and provided 7 assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.
