Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi: “We Are Happy to Play Every Two or Three Days”

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi spoke about the Biancocelesti’s exciting 4-3 comeback over Torino yesterday in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio yesterday.

“A game of strong emotions, we showed that this squad has great moral and physical qualities. The team, despite the difficulties, always believes in themselves.

“At the 87th minute, any team would have given up, the guys believed. Caicedo scored a very important goal for us.”

He commented on his decisions throughout the game regarding the player choices and the substitutions.

“I tried to put some new players, I am happy with Pereira and Muriqi, they played well. I am satisfied, I have to try to rotate as many players as possible.

“I asked Patric and Fares for help, they had some problems, they gave me a great availability.”

The Italian coach touched on the team’s future and upcoming games.

“At this moment thinking ahead long term is not easy, it’s already Sunday night. Tomorrow we’ll have the training session, then a long journey that will take us to this important match.

“We are happy to play every two or three days, we wanted the Champions League with all our strength.”

Inzaghi gave his thoughts about Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

“He was good, he is giving us a lot. Both in quantity and quality. We are happy to have him with us.”

He also gave his thoughts about Ecuadorian forward Felipe Caicedo, who scored yesterday’s winning goal in the dying moments of the match.

“He is an important player, whom I have been lucky enough to coach for more than three years. I have many offensive players, he played in Bruges and today he made the difference.”

Lazio’s win over Torino yesterday means that Inzaghi is now the Biancocelesti coach with the most wins over the Granata.

“I’m glad, it was a stat that I didn’t know.”

Inzaghi also spoke about Lazio’s win over the Turin based club in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia after the game.

“The final celebration was a thank you to these guys, it was a special week with two difficult away games. Today it was very important not to drop points, I am satisfied with the reaction because my squad showed mental strength.”

Finally, he highlighted how their opponents yesterday are a strong team who have not earnt the points that they have deserved.

“We were playing against a team that will soon move up the league table, they are led well by Giampaolo and are collecting little points. We have to analyze the goals conceded but I think we controlled the match well.”

Lazio’s next game is against Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg in the Champions League on Wednesday.
